Course Overview

This course is designed for participants wishing to attain skills and qualification enabling them to manage cyanide poisoning emergencies by gaining intraosseous and/or intravenous vascular access allowing for the administration of cyanide antidote, under medical direction.

Duration: 8 - 14 hours plus 3-5 hours of pre-course assessment

Mode of Delivery: 8 - 14 hours face to face in the classroom plus self paced pre-course of approx. 3 - 5 hours.

Reasonable Adjustment: FRA supports learners with recognised disabilities and makes adjustments, where possible, according to each individuals need. The level of adjustment required is determined on a case by case basis between FRA and the learner with a disability. FRA ensures any reasonable adjustment does not compromise the integrity of the competency standards.

Assessment Will Include: Written/Oral Questions, Practical Assessments & Scenario Based Assessments.

Includes: Workbook, Statement of Attainment (electronic).

Requirements

Entry Requirements: NAT11208007 Undertake intravenous cannulation and fluid therapy or equivalent.

USI: A USI (Unique Student Identifier) number is required for all accredited training in Australia. If you do not provide a USI number we may not be able to issue a Certificate/Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of training.

Pre-Course Study: The theory assessment component of this program must be completed prior to the face to face component.

Physical Requirements: A level of fitness and stamina is required.

Dress Code: Please wear closed in shoes and comfortable clothing to enable you to kneel down on the floor for extended periods of time.
